Revision rhinoplasty / obstructed nasal breathingMore and more of the patients visiting our practice for the first time have already been operated on elsewhere – more than once, in some cases – and are dissatisfied with the results. Reasons for their dissatisfaction may include the postoperative occurrence of obstructed nasal breathing, an untreated deviated septum or enlarged nasal turbinate, or scarring in the nose as the result of improperly placed incisions.
However, most of the patients who come to us with a request for revision rhinoplasty do so because of external irregularities after an earlier operation. Often it is simply a matter of too little or too much tissue having been removed from a nasal hump. As a rule, revision rhinoplasty should be performed no earlier than six to twelve months after the last operation.
