Otoplasty/surgery of the ear
Children up to about the age of 14 undergo the operation under general anesthesia. On adults the operation can also be performed under local anesthesia – entirely with no pain:
Because an incision is made in a natural fold behind the ear, there are no visible scars after the operation. Thanks to a special surgical technique it is usually possible (depending on the deformity) to restore the ear to a completely natural shape. The patient must wear an ear dressing for approximately three days following the operation. The stitches are removed after one week. Post-operative swelling disappears completely after about two weeks.
